A Teacher’s Guide to Coaching
Practical strategies for using coaching practices in schools
Over the last year I have been writing my first book – a teacher’s guide to coaching, inspired by my conversations with other teachers and my research at Stirling University in Scotland.
Having first come across coaching in schools as a teacher in a special educational needs school in 2005, I was intrigued at how skills in coaching supported all aspects of our work as a team supporting children and young people. As my own skills developed as a teacher and a leader, coaching was always a constant. Coaching enabled me to have a better understanding of myself and my interactions with others.
Coaching in Education
This book is for teachers and learning about using coaching skills and practices with children and young people, colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.
In this book you will read insights into what coaching can look like in schools and is supported by the sharing of experiences by teachers from around the world. It is a book for teachers by teachers, who share how they have used coaching in their classrooms and what they have noticed because of doing so. It is a collation of ideas around the use of coaching approaches and practices in schools for professional and personal development.
Through reading this book and trying some of the ideas you will be able to:
Further your understanding of self, both personally and professionally.
Develop coaching practices that support the development of relationships with learners, colleagues, and families.
Expand your toolbox of strategies to engage children and young people in their learning through using different coaching skills.
Develop knowledge of ways to introduce coaching practices and coaching cultures into your classroom, school, and your life.
In collaboration with John Catt Educational publishers, this book is due out in the next few months of 2022. Keep a look out on my web page www.jasminemillercoaching.com and https://www.johncattbookshop.com
